Realm of Eternia - Masters of the Universe

‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ Story by Mitchell Smith!

He-Man is a popular cartoon that created a mystical medieval type setting with a futuristic type look. I loved watching He-Man as a kid but I never had any of the figures. I didn’t get into much more than what was aired 2 or 3 season, and recently my curiosity was spiked about the back story of He-Man when I found some figures in the basement of my mother in laws house.

We moved in last year after she passed away and I found them and set the He-Man figures off to the side for the time being. Last weekend I decided to clean them up and see what they were all about. Now I had seen the figures before, but never owned or played with them. They always looked a bit funny to me. After I got them cleaned up and stood them all up they actually looked kind of cool. I could see how a kid would have fun setting up adventures with these figures. They are pretty basic as far as articulation goes, but many different characters to choose from.

Now the back story was what kind of got my interest, so I started doing a little on line research. So I’m not sure how accurate any of my info I collected is, but feel free to correct or add anything I leave out. The first thing I found was that He-Man was half human from his mothers side and half Eternian from his father. This would explain the classic and futuristic vibe. Second thing I found was that Skeletor was actually Uncle Skeletor to He-Man. This makes sense as to why Skeletor was trying to take over Castle Grayskull, because he was overlooked by his blue skin color and his brother took control of the throne instead of him, so that turned him to the evil side.

There were lots of great characters created in the He-Man series good and bad, for some reason Orko was always my favorite. I’m not sure why maybe just was the whole mischievous floating guy that seemed to have a lot of fun. Unfortunately I lost 2 nice pieces from the collection I salvaged in the basement, Cringer, poor Cringer ended up in the trash after my wife tripped over him, and the Castle Grayskull made it’s way back to it’s rightful owner my wife’s brother, but I think he may have sold it for pot money.

So now I’m on the fence as a collector to pursue trying to collect a few more characters or to put the ones I have on Ebay. I think for now I hold onto them only because I scrubbed them up and glued a couple, I have to get a little amusement out of them for my work. I’d like to get some feedback on facts and backstory of He-Man though, feel free to add something.
